Adverse Event Description

pain then developed in groin which was severe; pain in both buttocks; pain in thigh and into rest of legs; overall feeling dreadful; stiffness; low back pain; polymyalgia rheumatica/ symptoms worsened to include neck, shoulder and arm pain, stiffness; restricted movement/ unable to carry out exercises; difficulty standing from sitting; arm pain at vaccine site; primary immunisation: non-pfizer vaccine; booster: comirnaty; primary immunisation: non-pfizer vaccine; booster: comirnaty; this is a spontaneous report received from a contactable reporter (consumer or other non hcp) from the regulatory agency (ra). the reporter is the patient. regulatory number: gb-mhra-webcovid-202202221402584000-lnxmb (ra). other case identifier(s): gb-mhra-adr 26633605 (ra). a 58 year-old female patient received bnt162b2 (comirnaty), administration date 03dec2021 (lot number: fk9712) as dose 3 (booster), single for covid-19 immunisation. the patient had no relevant medical history. no relevant medical history to provide, not of any medication prior to these symptoms). the patient had no symptoms associated with covid-19 and was not enrolled in clinical trial. the patient did not undergo a covid-19 test. concomitant medication included: naproxen. vaccination history included: covid-19 vaccine (dose 2, manufacturer unknown), for covid-19 immunisation; covid-19 vaccine (dose 1, manufacturer unknown), for covid-19 immunisation. the following information was reported: off label use (disability, medically significant), interchange of vaccine products (disability, medically significant) all with onset 03dec2021, outcome "unknown" and all described as "primary immunisation: non-pfizer vaccine; pain in extremity (disability, medically significant), outcome "unknown", described as "pain in thigh and into rest of legs"; anxiety (disability, medically significant), outcome "unknown", described as "overall feeling dreadful". the events "pain then developed in groin which was severe", "stiffness", "low back pain", "polymyalgia rheumatica/ symptoms worsened to include neck, shoulder and arm pain, stiffness", "restricted movement/ unable to carry out exercises", "difficulty standing from sitting", "arm pain at vaccine site", "pain in both buttocks" and "pain in thigh and into rest of legs" were evaluated at the physician office visit. therapeutic measures were taken as a result of groin pain, musculoskeletal stiffness, back pain, polymyalgia rheumatica, hypokinesia, dysstasia, vaccination site pain, musculoskeletal pain, pain in extremity. clinical course was as follows: on 04dec2021 - the patient experienced arm pain at vaccine site, stiffness and restricted movement followed by low back pain, having difficulty standing from sitting and pain with stiffness in low back if stood in one position, when ironing for example. arm pain was continuous and unable to sleep on the affected side. the patient sought medical advice, referral to physiotherapist for initial assessment, given an exercise sheet and prescribed codeine phosphate/paracetamol (co-codamol). the patient then referred to musculoskeletal and was on a waiting list. the patient was unable to carry out exercises and symptoms worsened to include neck, shoulder and arm pain, stiffness and overall feeling dreadful. the patient sought further medical advice and finally spoke to a general physician (gp) who seemed surprised at the patient's symptoms given on her age, he would not expect a person of the patient's age to have the symptoms but someone much older. general physician (gp) asked that to patient arrange blood tests to test for polymyalgia rheumatica and to had a follow up appointment with gp to talk through results and treatment (likely steroids). the pain and stiffness of the patient had it was extremely debilitating and she was managing it by moving around after getting out of bed, the patient had to sleep upright as she could not lay down. the patient pace around the house for about 5 hours from 7:00 and could not sit, or sit on a toilet until the stiffness and pain starts to subside. the patient was taking naproxen, paracetamol as co-codamol, which did not help and now waiting for blood test. it was reported that the blood tests to be done on 02mar2022. patient has not tested positive for covid-19 since having the vaccine. patient is not enrolled in clinical trial. this report is not relate dto possible inflammation of the heart (myocarditis or pericarditis). no follow-up attempts are possible. no further information is expected
